RSA Student Design Awards

The RSA Student Design Awards, global curriculum and annual design competition for higher education students and recent graduates run by the RSA, a globally renowned charity committed to finding innovative, practical solutions to social problems have been announced for enties and waiting for your submition!

The RSA Student Design Awards are a global design competition that challenges students and recent graduates worldwide to think differently about design, through tackling briefs focused on real-world problems.

They work closely with industry partners to develop the briefs, they help colleges and universities embed them in their curricula, and support participants through workshops and mentoring.

The twelve brief for the 2015/2016 RSA Student Design Awards are:

1. Creative Conditions - design and develop a vision and business case for an environment or situation that prompts and fosters creative thinking.

2. The Good Life - empower people who live with long term, lifestyle-related health conditions to take a greater role in managing their own care.

3. Waste Not, Want Not - design a way to encourage and support individuals, households, businesses and/or communities to reduce food waste.

4. Mind Your Money - design a way for people to improve their financial capability and manage their money better.

5. Sustainably Clean - design a product or system that allows people to wash and clean themselves using less water and/or lower water temperatures.

6. Fair Share - design a way to keep the sharing economy fair so more people participate in it.

7. AfricaPack - improve the way medicines are protected, dispensed, distributed and/or taken in Sub- Saharan Africa.

8. Project Rural - design a product, system or campaign that is specifically intended to help people and communities in rural areas to flourish.

9. Inclusive Cities - design an inclusive building, place, or space so that it is easily and comfortably accessed and used by everyone.

10. One Man’s Waste - design a way to help eliminate the concept of waste within developed societies by promoting it as a valuable material resource.

11. Making It Inclusive - design a way to enable more people to enjoy the benefits of making.

12. Moving Pictures - conceive and produce an animation to accompany one of the two selected audio files that will clarify, energize and illuminate the content.

For entrants submitting their work before or on 10 February 2016, the entry fee is £25 per entry. After 10 February 2016 and until the final submission deadline of 10 March 2016, the entry fee is £35.

The competition is open to current students and new graduates from anywhere in the world. Both individual and group entries are eligible.

The creators of the best designs will be awarded with internships, cash awards and RSA fellowships.
