Omi International Arts Center is a not-for-profit arts organization with residency programs for international visual artists, writers, translators, musicians, and dancers
Omi seeks to foster an environment of creative exploration and exchange, professional opportunity and exposure, and a stylistically and culturally diverse community for creative artists from around the world.
The following four distinct OMI residency programs are currently open for application:
- Writers Omi at Ledig House - sponsors forty writers and translators from around the world for up to two months each year.
- Art Omi - invites thirty artists from around the world every July for a four week residency.
- Music Omi - brings together twelve to fifteen musician-composers from around the world in August for three weeks.
- Dance Omi - brings together ten dancers from around the world for three weeks in late August.
Omi invites artists from every continent, representing a wide diversity of artistic styles and practices, to gather in rural New York State to experiment, collaborate and share ideas.
Through a competitive jury process, residents are chosen, invited to attend at no cost to themselves, except travel. Abundant, catered meals and comfortable, beautiful lodgings are provided in a scenic location in Columbia County, New York.
During four weeks each June – July, concentrated time for creative work is balanced with the stimulation of cultural exchange and critical appraisal.
Omi International Arts Center is located two and a half hours north of New York City in the historic Hudson River Valley. Named for a neighboring village, Omi is close to the small town of Ghent, New York, as well as Albany and Hudson, which offer train connections only thirty minutes away.
The 2018 Residency will take place from 14 June to 10 July, 2018.
