Short description
Non Architecture (NonA) recently has announced its international design competition this time titled “FOR UNBUILT PROJECTS 2022”.
Non Architecture launches an award to honor those projects that didn’t take that approach and are unbuilt and unbuildable, either because they were designed to stay as such or because their innovative charge brought them into the realm of the unpractical.
Construction is the most obvious reward for an architectural project, but very often in order to make things buildable, architects have to sacrifice innovation and creativity and surrender to business as usual.
Organizer want to reward their innovative and experimental character with an award.
By recognizing remarkable achievements in architecture, they intend to highlight exemplary projects that serve as inspiration for practitioners. Equally important, these awards elevate the potential for positive impact that an exploratory approach in architecture has on the future of the profession.
Non Architecture framed 3 categories:
➜ URBAN&LANDSCAPE – Projects can include not only gardens and parks, but any urban or master plan dedicated to the long-term connections between buildings, nature, infrastructure, social and economic conditions, environments, and future development. Submit projects that contribute to urban development and change.
➜ ARCHITECTURE&INTERIOR – Projects can include residential, commercial, cultural, hospitality, institutional, sports & recreation, transportation, or temporary structures.
➜ ASPATIAL&VIRTUAL – Projects can include abstract and conceptual ideas with no physical representation, such as utopian projects, projects for digital platforms, tools or devices, process-oriented projects, participatory processes, or even gaming and digital simulations.
The award is open for student works, conceptual designs, competition entries, research and speculative initiatives of all sorts. Projects can have an exploratory or critical purpose, as long as they were not designed with the primary goal of being built. Projects under construction or otherwise apparently assured of construction are ineligible.
Evaluation Criteria:
➜ Innovation and novelty in the design solution proposed.
➜ Critical interpretation of the project.
➜ Clarity and effectiveness of the visual communication of the project.
The winners will be announced between 01 - 05 Mach, 2023.
Who may enter?
Non Architecture Award is open to all human beings from every age and cultural background, working in groups or individually.
Prize:
Non Architecture will award 1 winner and 9 honourable mentions for each category, selected by the jurors collectively. Winners will receive Non Architecture Trophy and digital and physical Non Architecture Award certificate.
Entry fees:
Entry fee is 10€ during the Special registration period (04 – 31 October 2022). After that period ends the amount of entry fee will increase.
