About Competition

Reinterpreting The Urn: A Symbol of Celebration invites participants from all walks of life and at any level of design expertise to craft a new and impactful meaning for the age-old symbol of death which is the urn.

Happy Urns has launched this competition to encourage everyone to give new and personal meaning to the urn and transform it into a symbol that represents celebration and appreciation of life.

The Urn has long been stigmatized as a symbol of death. Yet, the conclusion of a person’s life is more than just an end. It is more so about the journey towards final point that is worth celebrating.
As death takes one’s breath away, it also leaves behind a unique legacy and lifetime of precious memories.
Reinterpreting The Urn: A Symbol of Celebration invites participants from all walks of life and at any level of design expertise to craft a new and impactful meaning for the age-old symbol of death which is the urn. Participants are encouraged to reinterpret the concept, design and purpose of the “urn” by considering their culture, personal experiences and community. The design should introduce a new way of approaching the topic of death with loved ones and represent what celebration of life means to you and your loved ones.
