14th Tapirulan Illustrators Contest 2018 now is over!

The Italian Cultural Association Tapirulan is proud to announce the 14th edition of its Tapirulan Illustrators Contest 2018 inviting all artist from all over the world to take a part submitting the best work.

About Competition

14th Tapirulan Illustrators Contest 2018, an competition for illustrators has been recenlty announced by Italian Cultural Association Tapirulan with a purpose not to only award an illustrator, but also to produce an exciting show, attract visitors and focus public attention on illustration as a profession.

The theme for this year competition is "CAOS" (Chaos).

"For someone it represents the origin of all things, for others it is only the state in which they find their own desk; for someone it is a mathematical and physical theory that can understand only those who have an incredibly high IQ, for others it represents the emblem of the society in which we live. We are talking about the CAOS, or CHAOS if you prefer. But we are also talking about the theme of the 14th edition of the Tapirulan illustrator contest."

If at this moment your mind appears totally empty and you have any idea of what you could draw to participate in the competition, well … don’t worry, this is Chaos too, in a certain sense: that is a primordial state of emptiness, a (creative) darkness that precedes the realization of a magnificent illustration. The important thing, however, is that the darkness vanishes within October 20, 2018, that is the deadline of the competition.

Specific techniques used:

• Any medium and technique is allowed.
• Each work must be square-shaped, not smaller than 25×25 centimetres and not bigger than 40×40 centimetres.
• If the artwork is applied on a panel or frame, it must not exceed 3 mm in thickness.
• In case of a digital image it should be 31×31 centimetres (300 dpi – JPG format – best quality).

Every candidate is allowed to submit only 1 brand-new work. Works which have been awarded prizes or merits previously will not be accepted.

A jury will select 48 artworks to be published in the catalogue and to be displayed in the exhibition, starting from 8 December 2018 a Cremona. Among the 48 works selected, 12 will also be published on the calendar. The prize winner will be invited – in the next edition – to be part of the jury and to exhibit his works in a solo show at Spazio Tapirulan in Cremona. The 48 artworks selected by the jury will be published in the exhibition catalogue and on line on the following website: illustationcontest.tapirulan.it. All the registered subscribers of tapirulan.it will be able to express their preferential votes. If the most voted candidate is also the winner selected by the jury, the prize will be awarded to the artist who came in second according to the on line vote.

Entry fee is 15 EUR (that’s approximately 17.50 USD).

Eligibility

14th Tapirulan Illustrators Contest 2018 is opene to any Italian or foreign artist. There is no age limit however underage candidates need parents’ authorization.
