15th Tapirulan Illustrators Contest 2019 now is over!
Tapirulan Cultural Association recently has opened registration for their 15th illustrators competition, this year themed “Super“ is open to all super-illustrators, ready to surpass themselves and especially their competitors.
About Competition
Tapirulan’s illustration competition is celebrating its first 15 years, open to all superillustrators, ready to surpass themselves and especially their competitors to be among the 48 selected artists who will have their work on display in the exhibition.
The purpose of the Tapirulan contest is not only to award an illustrator, but also to produce an exciting show, attract visitors and focus public attention on illustration as a profession. A rich and colorful exhibition made up of three sections: the images selected by the jury, the winning illustrations from previous editions, and finally, the works of the special guest illustrator. The result is an exhibition of approximately 250 works. Every year organizer endeavour to add new exhibition venues to the original one, Cremona, which hosts the show between December and January.
Seven years ago Tapirulan started a collaboration with the Municipality of Genova and the Museums of Genova-Nervi and in 2020 the exhibition will be held there for another three months at Villa Grimaldi Fassio in Nervi.
The theme of the 2019 edition of the competition for illustrators is ’SUPER’.
Guidelines:
You can participate with just one square format illustration.
Works which have been awarded prizes previously will not be accepted.
Submission requirements:
• Any medium and technique is allowed.
• Each artwork must be square-shaped, not smaller than 25×25 centimeters and not bigger than 40×40 centimeters.
• If the artwork is applied on a panel or frame, it must not exceed 3 mm in thickness.
• In case of a digital image it should be 31×31 centimeters (300 dpi – JPG format – best quality).
The selection of the works is entrusted to the jury supervised by this year’s special guest: Bruno Bozzetto, illustrator, cartoonist, and, above all, director of unsurpassed short and animated films.
The exhibition “SUPER” which will include the 48 selected works and all the works of the former winners, will be set up from November 30 2019 to January 26 2020 at Santa Maria della Pietà – Cremona (Italy). During the inauguration of the exhibition the winners will be awarded their prizes. The results will then appear online www.tapirulan.it. After the exhibition in Cremona, the exhibition will continue in the halls of the Museums of Genoa Nervi from March 2020 to June 2020.
All the competing works will be exhibited permanently online.
Entry fee:
The subscription fee is 15 euros.
