About Competition
The Alfred Fried Photography Award once again aims to present human efforts to live together in peace and the quest for beauty and goodness in our lives. The award goes to those photographs that best express the idea that our future lies in peaceful coexistence.
Peace and photography enjoy a special relationship. The work of photojournalists has always helped make people aware of the need for and rewards of a life of peace. Regrettably they usually achieved this with pictures of the opposite – war and hunger.
Photography captures the sentiment of a moment, reflecting the actual world in a picture.
The organisers of the Alfred Fried Photography Award call on the photographic community to focus on peace in the world and to communicate this strongly in the media and to the public at large.
