Launched in 1992, the Applied Arts Awards, Canada’s largest multi-disciplinary competitions, have become an international recognition of creative excellence, and we are Canada’s only competitions that recognize the work of both professionals and students across the visual communications spectrum, from image-makers to advertising, marketing and graphic designers. Applied Arts magazine is Canada’s leading voice for visual communicators, so being published as a winner is your best opportunity to promote your work across Canada and beyond.
There is a six main categories:
• Photography
• Motion
• Young Blood Photography
• Young Blood Motion
• Community
• Community Motion
Community Awards categories are only open to work done by and for Canadians. Young Blood categories are only open to works produced by entrants who have been out of school up to three years.
This photography competition is open to all forms of commissioned, published, unpublished and personal work from professionals and enthusiasts created between January 2019 and January 2020 (but not entries that have been submitted into last year’s competition). Only digital entries are accepted for this competition.
Each competition is judged by a different and independent jury of award-winning creative professionals. Winning entries are not ranked and there is no pre-determined quota of winners. So if the jury votes you in, it means your work will be published in one of the Awards Annuals.
Early Bird deadline is December 20, 2019 and final deadline is January 10, 2020.
All entrants will be notified by mid-February 2020 via email. At that time, those selected as winning entrants will be required to submit high-res digital files for reproduction in the Photography & Photography annual. Winners’ certificates will be mailed separately, after the Photography & Photography annual is published.
