Art Olympia 2019 International Open Art Competition, held as a biennial event with the aim of discovering talented artists around the world and supporting their activities, has been recently open for submissions inviting all artist over the world to partecipate.
About Competition
Art Olympia Executive Committee, in collaboration with Living National Treasure Museum, is hosting the Art Olympia 2019 International Open Art Competition.
Art Olympia 2019 International Open Art Competition is an call for artists held as a biennial event with the goal of discovering talented artists around the world and supporting their activities. It aims to promote exchanges of the world’s various cultures through arts.
Art Olympia seeks two-dimensional artworks which can be representational or abstract; oil, acrylic, watercolour, pastel, mineral pigments, print, charcoal, digital/multimedia art, mixed media, photography, etc. (calligraphy, video, sculpture, and group/ collaboration works are not accepted).
There are two categories: "Open category" as well as an “Student category" aimed at supporting young artists.
Art Olympia is implemented focusing on the three concepts:
• HUB …Discover talented artists and direct them to where they might have more potential
While many artists are probably working in their own country, there may be potential for some of them to be more recognized abroad rather than in their own countries.
They act as a hub for discovering such artists and directing them to where they might have more potential.
• Excavation …Discover artists with potential to be recognized internationally
Art Olympia invites entries by the public from around the world, and invites art experts to serve on the jury from within Japan and abroad.
With a jury from various fields in the art world, they aim to discover artists who can work on a global scale.
• Practice …Creation of new art for the next generation by international artists
They ultimate goal is “to create new art for the next generation by international artists.”
At “Art Olympia,” their utmost pleasure would be to help artists to advance overseas, expand cultural exchanges between them, and create new art for the next generation through mutual cooperation.
Each artist is limited to 3 images.
The Art Olympia 2019 exhibition will be held for two sessions at two venues, having expanded its scale significantly. The first session is “Award-Winning Selection Exhibition,” where around 100 award-winning works including the winner of the First prize / Gold Award will be displayed in the run-up to the main exhibition. At the specially site in “Toshima Eco Musee Town” in Ikebukuro. In the main exhibition (second session) at Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum, approx. total of 280 works will be displayed, including the award-winning works and selected works, as well as works awarded honorable mention at the final review within Japan.
Entry Fees:
• General submission: $60 for 1 image, $100 for 2 images, $140 for 3 images
• Student submission: $40 for 1 image, $70 for 2 images, $100 for 3 images
