Bucharest International Jazz Competition 2017 now is over!
The 11th Bucharest International Jazz Competition has recently opened the registration for a new music competition 2017 and all jazz instrumentalists and vocalists of all nationalities, no older than 40, are invited to participate.
About Competition
Now in its 11th year, the Bucharest International Jazz Competition has opened the registration for 2017 music competition that consists of three rounds of judging, during which the initial selection is made and, semi-finalists and winner are announced. Participants which qualify for the 2nd and 3rd rounds include will be required to perform live on several occasions.
The Competition debuted in 2007 and is now ranked as the second jazz contest in Europe and the third in the world. It is organized by jmEvents and takes place during the International Festival EUROPAfest in Romania.
Prizes will be awarded by a Jury whose members are well known personalities of the jazz musical world. The Jury will use the standard criteria as:
- style / interpretation
- improvisation
- technique / diction / articulation
- musicality
- time and rhythm
- intonation
Bands may have up to 6 performing musicians and they may include:
- instrumentalists and vocalists
- instrumentalists
- vocalists
1st Round - Selection of semi-finalists
The admissions panel and adjudicators will evaluate each application. Recordings must have been made within the past 12 months. The application must include 2 - 3 pieces of different styles.
2nd Round - Semi-final on 13 - 19 May
- Semi-finalists will perform 50 - 60 minutes in the competition’s concert hall
- Semi-finalists will perform 50 - 60 minutes in an unconventional space
- Semi-finalists will perform 50 - 60 minutes in jam sessions
3rd Round - Final on 20 May
Finalists will perform 20 minutes.
Organizers provide lodging for the first 5 registered musicians in the competition. Accommodation begins on May 13, 2017 and is ensured for the period the participants remain in contest. For the rest of the candidates, the organizers will make hotel reservations upon request, based on special accommodation packages offer.
Bucharest International Jazz Competition 2017 is scheduled for 13–20 May.
The registration fee for one application/group is 120 Euro.
Eligibility
All jazz instrumentalists and vocalists of all nationalities, no older than 40, are invited to participate in this competition. Applicants must be born after 1st of May 1977.
