The Circle of Light, Moscow International Festival of Lights at which lighting designers and specialists in audiovisual art from various countries reinvent the architectural scene of Moscow by using video mapping, has been recently opened for edition 2018.

About Competition

The Circle of Light - Art Vision, Moscow International Festival of Lights organised by Department of Sport and Tourism of Moscow is an event held annualy at which lighting designers and specialists in audiovisual art from various countries reinvent the architectural scene of Moscow by using video mapping.
This is an international competition and light festival of 2D or 3D mapping projections on a facade of buildings playing up its geometry and architecture.

There are three main categories:

• Classic Architectural Projection Mapping Competition - the key requirement of the Classic category is the use of effects, artistic techniques and original ideas how to integrate the entry work with the architectural peculiarities of the facade of Bolshoi Theater. This year’s theme is: Freestyle.
• Modern - the key requirement of the Modern category is the use of the modern techniques, instruments, and implementation of the contemporary art, entertainment and show trends. Works may be based on generative graphics or a prerecorded video clip.
• VJing

Guidlines:

(Classic Architectural Projection Mapping Competition) is an International contest of 2D or 3D mapping projections on a facade of buildings playing up its geometry and architecture. This year the Venue for ART VISION Classic Competition will be facades of 3 world famous theatres: Bolshoi, Maly and RAMT. Russian and International students, creative teams, design studios, etc may enter the Competition.

Selection and Assessment Criteria(Classic and Modern):

• Imagination & Originality;
• Execution & usage of the contemporary instruments and techniques in works (e.g. VVVV, TouchDesigner, Quartz Composer etc.);
• Music Choice;
• Audience Reaction.

• Execution & Technique;
• Integration into the music;
• Audience Reaction.

(Contemporary Art Projection Mapping Competition) is an International contest of 2D or 3D mapping projections on a facade of buildings playing up its geometry and architecture. This year the Venue of ART VISION Modern will be the facade of Grand Tsaritsyno Palace (Ekaterina’s Palace). Russian and International students, creative teams, design studios, etc may enter the Competition.

(VJs Battle) is an International contest of VJs playing 10 minute VJ sets using the prepared video content and accompanied by a live DJ set. This year the Venue of ART VISION VJing will be MIR Hall. Russian and International students, creative teams, design studios, etc may enter the Competition.

The judging panel welcomed International praised designers, artists, VJs and persona. 2018 edition is expected to be even more excited for contestants, judges and goers. The organizers are preparing something special!

The number of works by a single author or group of authors is limited to 1.

Moscow International Festival of Lights will be held from 21 to 25 September 2018.

There is no entry fees to partecipate in this competition.
