The Circle Of Light 2017 Moscow International Festival now is over!
The Moscow International Festival and art competition the Circle of Light, at which lighting designers and specialists in audiovisual art from various countries reinvent the architectural scene of Moscow by using video mapping, has been recently opened for 2017.
About Competition
The Circle of Light Moscow International Festival is an annual event at which lighting designers and specialists in audiovisual art from various countries reinvent the architectural scene of Moscow by using video mapping Art Vision, 2D or 3D mapping projections on a facade of buildings playing up its geometry and architecture.
There are three main categories:
• Classic Architectural Mapping
• Modern Video Mapping
• VJing
The key requirement of the Classic category is usage of effects, artistic techniques and original ideas how to integrate the entry work with the architectural peculiarities of the facade of Bolshoi Theater.This year’s theme is Freestyle.

• Music Choice
• Audience Reaction
The key requirement of the Modern category is usage of the modern techniques, instruments, and implementation of the contemporary art, entertainment and show trends. Works may be based on generative graphics or may be a prerecorded video clip. This year the Venue of ART VISION Modern will be the facade of Maly Theatre.
Selection and Assessment Criteria for the Modern category:
• Imagination & Originality
• Execution & usage of the contemporary instruments and techniques in works (e.g. VVVV, TouchDesigner, Quartz Composer etc.)
• Music Choice
• Audience Reaction
The key requirement of the VJing category is that contestants perform a 10 minute VJ set to a live DJ set (background music). This year the Venue of ART VISION VJing will be MIR Hall.

There is an educational program that takes place during the festival. It includes lectures and workshops with the world class lighting designers. Educational activities are open for visitors, but the pre-registration is needed.
The number of works by a single author or group of authors is limited to one. Dates of the live competition in Moscow: September 23 - September 27, 2017.
The organizer of the Circle of Light festival is the Department for Multicultural Policy, Interregional Cooperation and Tourism of Moscow.
There is no entry fee for this competition.
Eligibility
This competition is open worldwide to professionals, students, creative teams, design studios, etc.
