Compost Awareness Week Poster Contest 2020 now is over!
The International Compost Awareness Week Committee invites you to get involved in ICAW Poster Contest 2020 looking for anyone interested in participating in their 18th edition, this year themed “Soil Loves Compost”.
About Competition
The Composting Council Research & Education Foundation (CCREF) recently has announced its ICAW Compost Awareness Week Poster Contest 2020 inviting people from all over the world to participate.
International Compost Awareness Week (ICAW) is the largest and most comprehensive education initiative of the compost industry. It is celebrated nationwide and in other countries each year during the first full week of May. The goal of the program is to raise the awareness of the public regarding the benefits of using compost to improve or maintain high-quality soil, to grow healthy plants, reduce the use of fertilizer and pesticides, improve water quality and protect the environment.
This year’s theme is based on the idea that ’Soil Loves Compost’ because compost feeds soil! Soil is alive and needs nourishment to be healthy. With healthy soil you grow healthy plants. Soil Loves Compost because it provides food and nutrients for living microbes that make up healthy soil. Without compost we would have few ways to enrich and restore soil. Compost keeps soil strong and healthy by reusing and recycling organic materials in a “zero waste” cycle. Compost keeps our soil happy and it keeps our planet healthy.
Guidelines:
The poster must include the words ’International Compost Awareness Week, 3 – 9, 2020’. Do not add additional words to your poster. Images of the poster should be based on compost use or address the benefits of recycling organic residuals. Images should demonstrate that compost is not limited to a specific use, but has many uses, especially in relation to healthy soil, which provides many benefits.
Please make sure everything can be easily read from a distance.
All entries will be reviewed in three different divisions:
• Grades 3 to 7
• Grades 8 to 12
• College students and adults
Art work is to be submitted in electronic format with a resolution of 300 dpi and in jpg format (poster winner will be requested to resubmit poster at a higher resolution for reproduction purposes). Poster should measure no larger than 12" wide X 17" high and be vertical (portrait) in orientation.
The contest runs from September 1 until November 1, 2019.
Entries are limited to 1 submission per artist.
There is no entry fee to participate!

This poster competition is open to anyone who wishes to share their artistic creativity to promote this year’s theme.
