Creative Time Artist Open Call for NYC Residents

Creative Time Artist Open Call for NYC Residents now is over!
Creative Time recently has opened the new edition of its art competition inviting NYC-based artists to submit proposals for a new public project.
About Competition
Creative Time is inviting artists to submit proposals for a public artwork. This open call is an opportunity for emerging artists to experiment in the public realm and utilize Creative Time’s 40+ year history of realizing artists’ dream projects.
The open call invites artists working in all media to submit proposals for a new public art commission, to be presented in New York City in the spring/summer of 2019.
Creative Time is inviting NYC-based artists to submit proposals for a new public project. Applicants are invited to come up with original and exciting ideas that have the potential to spark public dialogue and address timely issues. Organizer are most interested in ideas that take unconventional exhibition formats, speak to a pressing social issue, and engender public dialogue.
Organizer are accepting proposals for an original, temporary public artwork. We are most interested in ideas that take unconventional exhibition formats, speak to a pressing social issue, and engender public dialogue. There is no secret formula for medium, size, or scale.
We love bold and ambitious ideas, and there is no secret formula for size or scale – proposals can range from the unassuming to a dramatic gesture. We’d like to hear about how your work contends with a current issue or social context. Was it conceived in response to a particular concern, community, or history? Whatever it is, the idea should be timely, and hold the potential to spark critical public exchange.
Submission requirements:
Applicants will submit a resume, bio, selected works, and a letter of intent detailing their proposal and interest in creating a public artwork with Creative Time.
Applicants are asked to include supplemental information, including a resume (2 page max), bio (100 words max), selected works (up to 10 images and 3 videos), and a detailed statement of intent. Applicants are asked to introduce their project proposal, explain why this project relates to and will expand their practice, and how working with Creative Time will serve their vision (600 words max).
Artists are invited to submit a proposal outlining 1 project only. They welcome applications from existing collectives with a history of making work together. Collectives can submit a single application.
Applications will only be accepted electronically.
In late January, shortlisted finalists will be invited to submit a more detailed proposal that includes an in-depth concept outline, site parameters, production timeline, sketches or renderings, and a budget. A selection committee comprised of curators, artists, Creative Time staff, and community members will select the final proposal, which will be announced in February 2019.
