The Curtas Vila do Conde 2018 - International Film Festival, now in its 26th edition is opened for entries and like every year waiting for new short films from all artists worldwide.
About Competition
The Curtas Vila do Conde - International Film Festival 2018, now in its 26th year edition invites all artist to submit they short films from any part of the world produced in 2017 or 2018, up to 60 minutes in length, in film (35mm or 16 mm) or digital (DCP or vídeo files).
Assuming as main objective the promotion and diffusion of cinematographic and audio-visual works, selected according to a quality criteria, the event will put on focus not only on the discovery of new films and filmmakers but also on the recognized legacy of Cinema.
Animations, documentaries, fiction films, experimental films and music videos, in film (16mm and 35mm) or digital (DCP or video files), produced in 2017 or 2018, no longer than 60 minutes (unless noted exceptions), are admitted to the various competitions.
The Festival is very competitive and each year awards are announced in thirteen categories, five of which are international.
You can submit your new films in the following competitions:
• International (fiction, documentary and animation);
• Portuguese (Portuguese films of fiction, documentary and animation);
• Experimental (films that defy narrative and technical conventions);
• Music Videos (music videos for Portuguese bands or artists, or directed by Portuguese authors until 30 minutes);
• Curtinhas (films for kids until 30 minutes);
• Take One (school films, until 30 minutes, by Portuguese film students, national or in film schools abroad).
The jury of Portuguese and International competitions, composed by a maximum number of 5 recognized professionals to be designated by the festival board, will attribute the prizes.
All the submitted films in the festival, selected or not for the all competitions, may be included in the VIDEO LIBRARY, attended exclusively by the accredited professionals, from 17th to 21st July 2018. It is on the festival board to decide which films will be available in the Video Library, not being assured the inclusion of all submitted films.
The 26th Curtas Vila do Conde - International Film Festival will be held from 14th to 22nd of July 2018.
Submission fees starts from 10 Euro for entries until 12th January 2018.
