The 25th edition of the film competition titled Curtas Vila do Conde 2016 International Film Festival is opened for entries waiting for the short film from any part of the world.
About Competition
Now in its 25th year edition, the Curtas Vila do Conde International Film Festival, film competition is open for submissions for 2017 inviting artist to submit they short films from any part of the world.
The Festival is calling for new short films produced in 2016 or 2017, in film (35mm or 16 mm) or digital (DCP or vídeo files).
Curtas Vila do Conde is a very competitive film festival and each year awards are announced in thirteen categories, five of which are international.
Animations, documentaries, fiction films, experimental films and music videos, no longer than 60 minutes (unless noted exceptions), are all eligible for submission in the following competitions:
- International (fiction, documentary and animation) - submission deadline: 7th April 2017.;
- Portuguese (Portuguese films of fiction, documentary and animation)- submission deadline: 22nd May 2017.
- Experimental - this competition is dedicated to experimental films, particularly those that will reveal new approaches to moving images and the development of the language of Cinema. The jury of this competition, composed by a maximum number of 3 recognized professionals, to be designated by the festival board, will attribute the: - Best Experimental Film Award. - submission deadline: 7th April 2017.
- Music Videos - this competition is dedicated to music videos of bands or artists of Portuguese origin or produced by Portuguese authors, up to 30 minutes, with a specific jury also composed by a maximum number of 3 recognized professionals to be designated by the festival board, will attribute the prize for: - Best Music Video. - submission deadline: 22nd May 2017.
- Curtinhas - this competition is dedicated to children’s films rated over three years old, and up to 30 minutes. The jury is composed of a large group of children aged from 7 to 13 years old, which will attribute the: - Curtinhas Award. - submission deadline: 7th April 2017.
- Take One - this competition is dedicated to films up to 30 minutes, directed by Portuguese students, enrolled in Portuguese Universities or in cinema schools or filmmaking courses abroad. The jury of this competition, composed by a maximum number of 3 recognized professionals to be designated by the festival direction, will attribute the: Take One! Award. - submission deadline: 22nd May 2017.
Assuming as main objective the promotion and diffusion of cinematographic and audio-visual works, selected according to a quality criteria, the event will put on focus not only on the discovery of new films and filmmakers but also on the recognized legacy of Cinema.
The 25th Curtas Vila do Conde - International Film Festival, organized by Curtas Metragens CRL – Cooperativa de Produção Cultural CRL, based in Vila do Conde, Portugal, will be held from 8th to 16th of July 2017.
Submission fees for this competition start at 7 Euro for entries until 18th January 2017.
