Design Educates Awards 2022, competition that investigate the educational potential of architecture and design has been recently announced by Laka Foundation, inviting everyone to promote globally the best ideas and implementations of architecture and design that educate.
About Competition
Laka Foundation is accepting entries for its Design Educates Awards 2022, an multidisciplinary call for ideas that recognizes the best ideas and implementations of architecture and design that can educate.
The Design Educates Awards showcase and promote the awarded designs globally. The design itself may provide an informative and educational layer that guides us through the increasing complexity of our environment. It can showcase specific possibilities and challenges, explain sociocultural factors and influences, or even outline new scenarios for future development.
Each year, the esteemed panel of judges selects outstanding ideas and implementations in the categories of architectural design, product design, universal design, and responsive design.
The awards ceremony will take place during the Architecture in Foyer 2022 worldwide conference at the Solarlux Campus in Germany (Melle, Lower Saxony, Germany) from 22–23 September 2022. The conference will be hosted by Solarlux GmbH (the strategic partner of the awards) and will consist of an exhibition of the results of the DEAwards, lectures by distinguished architects and designers, laureates’ presentations, workshops, and networking opportunities.
All participants are invited to join the awards ceremony and Architecture in Foyer Conference to meet with other participants, jurors, and organizers.
Categories
Each year, the esteemed panel of judges selects the outstanding ideas and implementations in the categories:
➜ Architectural Design — buildings or other designs on a similar scale; may include interior designs too
➜ Product Design — products, smaller objects, objects of industrial design, and similar
➜ Universal Design — the designs that may not be strict of architecture or product design, or are interdisciplinary, or difficult to categorize into other categories
➜ Responsive Design — designs that interact with its surroundings and users; this category derives from Laka Competition “Architecture that Reacts.”
Submission requirements
Participants can submit multiple designs in the same category, multiple designs in different categories, or a single design in more than one category.
Projects must be submitted in English.
Eligibility
The awards are open to everyone.
Prize
Laureates of the awards join an elite group of 116 members from 35 countries to date, are invited to present their designs during the awards ceremony in Germany, and are included in the book Design Educates. The winners, laureates of prizes, honorable mentions, and nominations will be selected in each competition category. In addition to the general evaluation, the student project with the highest score will be awarded the label of Emerging Designers.
Entry fees
Basic registration fee per entry is as follows and represented in USD for Early, Regular, Late entries respectably.
