Gioielli in Fermento 2020 now is over!
Gioielli in Fermento 2020, international jewellery competition recently organised with the support of the City of Castel San Giovanni (Piacenza, Italy) and the collaboration of AGC Associazione Gioiello Contemporaneo, LAO Le Arti Orafe Jewellery School – Firenze ans others, has become a relevant happening for the cultural environment and the community of arts in Val Tidone (Italy).
About Competition
The city of Castel San Giovanni (Piacenza) in collaboration with AGC Associazione Gioiello Contemporaneo, will host the 2020 Edition of the contemporary jewellery competition, Gioielli in Fermento linked to the cultural and artistic context of Val Tidone Valley. Getting inspiration from a typical landscape of the Emilia region, the curatorial project extends every year to its international audience of passionates and experts in the field of research in jewellery.
For 10 years, the main focus of the competition has been inspired by the chemical phenomenon of fermentation as the metaphor underlining the evolutionary aspect of contemporary experimental jewellery, which represents a crossroads between individual research paths and international collective atmospheres. A piece of jewellery is the result of a pure fermenting process.
Artists will present an ornament for the body (necklace, pendant, brooch, ring, earrings, other wearable ornament - clothing excluded) challenging the theme, evoking descriptive or conceptual traits according to their own inspiration.
The winning work will express a unique creative energy, the original individuality typical of research studio jewellery which represents the concept of contemporary fermento (restlessness, excitement, trepidation, upheaval...) through the maturity of the path and the author who experiences it.
There are two categories:
• ESTABLISHED / EMERGING professional section (online registartion deadline is Febbruary 23, 2020)
• STUDENTS / SCHOOLS section (online registartion deadline is March 31, 2020)
There would be 2-step selection: for the 1st step you need to send anonymous presentation of the images and the uploaded short tex and for 2nd step you need to send the real view of the work. After registration deadline, the organization will inform the artists about the admission to send the piece for the 2nd step of selection to be part of Gioielli in Fermento 2020.
Submission guidelines:
Any kind of ornament for the human body (except clothing), made using any material or technique, will be accepted provided it can be worn. Each author will compete with 1 work to be selected for competition. It can be a unique piece or a distinct piece set apart from a limited edition collection.
