About Competition
’Healing’ – Alternative Designs for Quarantine Cities, one of the Non Architecture “Pandemic Society” competitions, now is calling for entries! Non Architecture (NonA) is looking for visionary concepts for alternative urban life in relation to COVID-19.
Our world is changing fast, while ambitions and challenges match in importance. In this context, design can play a huge role. How do we imagine the world to be? What range of possibilities we haven’t discovered yet? What’s a Non-Architecture for a World in crisis?
The United Nations predicts that by 2050 two thirds of the world population will be living in urban areas. What kind of role can we play as designers in reimagining urban life? How can we produce new inspiring visions to trigger a discussion around alternative models of urban living?
In this competition, organiser asking you come up with visionary concepts for alternative urban life in relation to the COVID-19 emergency. You are asked to reimagine urban life through a variety of creative design concepts and ideas.
’Healing’ – Alternative Designs for Quarantine Cities aims to answer those questions with particular focus on the current emergency related to the COVID-19 outbreak.
Submission guidelines:
➜ Projects should take into consideration one or more of the themes proped by organiser. They can also come up with new ones, as long as they are relevant to the topic of the competition. Feel free to pic from this list whatever issue might inspire them and develop it further following their creativity. Organiser advises to focus on one or two topics in particular and make them the core of the design proposal.
➜ Designers are asked to answer the questions posed by the brief with absolute creative freedom.
➜ The proposal submitted could be a device, piece of furniture, interior design project, pavilion, building, urban plan or something different. Scale of intervention, program dimensions, and location are not given, and they can be arranged by the participants to better suit their design.
Submit one ZIP folder containing:
● A presentation image saved in JPEG showing the qualities of your design, in one catchy and representative impression.
● A technical image saved in JPEG showing in a 2d drawing a specific technical/organizational aspectof the project.
● A functional image saved in JPEG showing a specific functional peculiar aspect of the project.
● A text document in Word (.DOC) that clearly states the title and subtitle (maximum of 10 words), 1 to 5 keywords from the given list that better explain your project, followed by a short description (maximum of 200 words). The text must be written in English.
Evalutation criteria:
➜ Innovation - In terms of program management, technology and originality of the formal solution proposed.
➜ Communication - Clarity, appeal and experimentation in the presentation of the proposal.
➜ Relevance - The degree to which the proposal is related or useful to the proposed theme.
Winners will be announced from 21 – 27 September.
Entry Fees:
Enty fee starts from 30 Euros and very depends of the period you decide submit your work.
Eligibility
"Healing" – Alternative Designs for Quarantine Cities are open to all human beings, from every age and cultural background, working in groups or individually. Teams can be formed by a maximum number of 5 people.
