The Hermione Hammond Drawing Award, drawing competition for students recently has opened the call for entries for 2020, like very year to encourage the practice of representational drawing among art students.
About Competition
The Hermione Hammond Drawing Award is an drawing competition for emerging artists to encourage and reward the practice of contemporary representational drawing.
The Hermione Hammond Drawing Award was established in 2012, in memory of the artist Hermione Hammond (1910-2005), to encourage the practice of representational drawing among emerging artists.
Since 2017, it has been run in partnership with Mall Galleries, central London’s leading gallery celebrating contemporary visual arts through a lively and diverse programme of exhibitions and events.
Acceptable media include pencil, pen, ink, charcoal, conte, pastels, oil pastels, sanguine, or printmaking and mixed media pieces where draughtsmanship is in evidence.
Work must have been completed in the last two years and must not have been previously exhibited in London.
You must submit maximum of 6 works.
Works should not be larger than 2.4m along the longest dimension.
The judging committee, comprised of the family of Hermione Hammond and representatives of Mall Galleries, will pick the winner.
For 2020, the award will be given as a prize at the Annual Exhibition of the New English Art Club at Mall Galleries for a drawing by an emerging artist aged 35 or under. The exhibition will run from 12 to 20 June, with the winner announced at the Private View on Thursday 11 June 2020.
Entry fees:
Entry fee is £18 per work (or £12 per work for artists aged 35 or under), which includes Free Admission to the exhibition (normally £5).
Eligibility
This drawing competition is open to both International and British artists aged between 18 and 35 at the time of submission.
