12th Bucharest International Jazz Competition 2018 now is over!
Now in its 12th year, the Bucharest International Jazz Competition, one of the most appreciated jazz events has opened registration for 2018 and all jazz instrumentalists and vocalists, no older than 40, are invited to participate.
About Competition
Between the 12th and 19th of May 2018, Bucharest International Jazz Competition celebrates its 12th edition. The competition takes place during the International Festival EUROPAfest. It promises unforgettable meetings, thrilled audience, atmosphere, by combining concerts with jam sessions, workshops and jazz master-classes.
After only 11 years from its debut, Bucharest International Jazz Competition is ranked as the 2nd jazz contest in Europe and the 3rd in the world. The Competition contributes significantly to building a positive image of Romania in the world, allowing the inclusion of the country on the international map of major jazz events.
Dedicated to professional musicians, the event successfully debuted in 2007, registering an unexpected participation for the first edition of 30 bands from 25 countries.
Over the years, the Bucharest International Jazz Competition has proved to be a promoter for jazz musicians and bands, not only in Eastern Europe but all over the world. Its mission is to contribute to the acknowledgment of jazz values and to celebrate creativity and freedom of expression.
The jury of Bucharest International Jazz Competition 2017 is international and it includes artists and teachers, recognized experts in the field, with experience in identifying new talents in the world of jazz.
The Jury will use the standard criteria as:
• style / interpretation
• improvisation
• technique / diction / articulation
• musicality
• time and rhythm
• intonation
The registration fee for one application/jazz band is 120 Euro.
