International Picture Book Competition Biblioteca Gran Canaria now is opened for entries inviting all writers and illustrators 18 years and over to participate with they best illustrations.
About Competition
The Biblioteca Insular de Gran Canaria is pleasant to announce the new edition of its International Picture Book Competition, illustration competition open to all writers and illustrators 18 years and over.
This competition welcomes picturebooks which demonstrate narrative and visual originality. The term “picturebook” includes works where the story is developed through text and images, or exclusively images.
Submission requirements:
Entrants must present 2 double-spaced copies of the written text and 1 color photocopy of three finished illustrations. They must also include a mock-up of the complete work showing how these illustrations and the text will be laid out as well as the layout of any other illustrations which should, at the very least, be sketched out.
The maximum length for entries is 36 pages (18 double pages) excluding covers, fly leaves and copyright page. The format is open and suggestions for unusual bindings will be considered provided the publishers ABP can comply.
Works must be previously unpublished and must not be entered in any other competition at the same time.
Submissions must be written in Spanish.
The following criteria will be used to decide the winner:
• Best narrative concept using text/images
• Originality and literary quality of the content
• Harmony achieved in the presentation of text/illustrations

Eligibility
The International Illustrated Picturebook Competition Biblioteca Insular de Gran Canaria is open to all writers and illustrators 18 years and over, irrespective of place of origin or residence.
