Kokuyo Design Award 2020 now is over!
KOKUYO once agian is holding the Kokuyo Design Award 2020, design competition aiming to gather and commercialize designs from a wide range of users in the general public that are excellent from the perspective of those using them.
About Competition
The Kokuyo Design Award Kokuyo 2020 now is opened for entries accepting registration and submissions for its international competition this year themed: ’♡’.
The Kokuyo Design Award organised by KOKUYO Group is design competition recently announced for entries dedicate to attract beautifully functional product designs, taking the best of the best to the actual consumer market, enhancing design as a value and supports the production of items loved by the user.
Guidelines:
The reading of “♡” is deliberately not defined. How to read and interpret this symbol is completely up to the applicant to decide. Kokuyo would like you to allow your imagination to flow as freely as possible as you think about the expectations contained within “♡”.
This is a international competition for user-centric product design, where the best of the best are actually put on the consumer market. The organizers are looking for any and all ideas to turn into actual products.
Any stationery, furniture or tool used in working, learning and living scenes are eligible. As all tools used in everyday life are eligible, and not just stationery and furniture which are Kokuyo’s main product categories, the organizers expect more flexible ideas.
Submission requirements:
• (A3, Portrait Orientation), Width: 297mm × Height: 420mm, up to 5Mb limit to one A3 size page. Additional pages will not be accepted.
• Add any information you feel helps explain your design.
• Entries must be in Japanese or English.
• Format - JPEG or PDF
• Size - JPEG / Width: 3508 pixels × Height: 4961 pixels
• Resolution - 300dpi, color mode: RGB
Entry eligibility is limited to those designs never before shown publicly (in Japan and other countries). Multiple submissions are allowed.

For the 2020 competition the organizers hope to see more flexible and bolder designs in comparison to previous years. They look forward to seeing amazing, intuitive and inspiring works that transform what we think of as “normal”.
The winners will be invited to make a presentation at final judging (secondary judging) in Tokyo on May 14, 2020. Winners may be asked to participate in meetings to assess the commercial viability of their products too.
Winners will be posted on the KOKUYO DESIGN AWARD website after the conclusion of the official announcements.

Kokuyo Design Award accepts entries from any corporation, individual, or group that fulfills all the following requirements, regardless of their age, sex, occupation, or nationality.
