About Competition
For the sixth year, the LensCulture Portrait Awards 2019 are searching the globe for photographers making the most captivating portraits.
LensCulture is committed to diversity and our mission to discover the most imaginative, creative photographers out there regardless of location, age, background or experience level. For over a dozen years, LensCulture has been committed to helping photographers of all levels move forward creatively and professionally.
Organiser are eager to see innovative new approaches as well as stunning traditional work — from quirky self-portraits to creative portrayals of family, friends, groups and ordinary people around the world.
These Awards are open to all people and all interpretations of portraiture, whether made in a studio with professional lighting or a smart-phone portrait from your travels.
Submission requirements:
For best results, upload the highest-quality JPEGs, sized a minimum of 1200 pixels on the longest side (2000 pixels is even better). Maximum size is 10MB. The file name should be under 50 characters. The system can accept up to 5000 pixels (maximum) but 2000 pixels are perfect for their judges. DPI doesn’t matter because the submissions are not for print — as long as the submissions are 2000 pixels on the long side, your work will look great on the platform.
You can submit as many times as you like. If you wouldlike to submit two series of photographs, each series should be in a separate submission so that you can write a description for each one and allow the jury to view each entry as a single body of work. If you try to combine two series into one entry, it will have zero chance of being selected by the jury. If cost is an issue, please submit only your strongest single body of work.
All entries will be reviewed and pre-screened by the editors and an international group of industry professionals. The screened entries are then reviewed by the international jury. The jury will choose the winners.
Winning photographers will be exhibited at Aperture Gallery in New York City’s Chelsea district.
Your first single-image entry is free. Instead 5 single-image entries, judged individually (not as a series) cost $50 and 10 photographs, judged as a series, can be submitted for $60.
Eligibility
The competition is open to everyone that is 18 years and older, professional and amateur photographers alike.
