About Competition
LensCulture Portrait Awards, an international photography competition recently opened for entries for 2020 is seeking the best portrait photography from all the corners of the world, open to everything, all points of view, all levels of expertise and all ideas of portraiture.
The LensCulture Portrait Awards are open to photographers at all levels of experience and all interpretations of portraiture. Your work may be made in the studio with professional lighting or snapped on a smart-phone during your travels, what matters is not your method but your ability to move your audience.
This competition is open to all types of portrait photography from quirky self-portraits to candid portrayals of family and friends, from staged and conceptual photographs of public figures to environmental portraits, we want to see your work!
LensCulture is on a mission to discover the most imaginative, talented, creative photographers out there, regardless of location, age, background or experience level.
There are two categories:
• Photo Series:
Submit up to 5 or more photographic portraits that work well together as a series — variations of a single person, or members of a group, changes over time, etc. This category is open to all interpretations of what can be called a ’portrait’ - thematically, conceptually, sociologically, as a story, or simply as a range of your photographic talent.
• Single Image:
Often, a single powerful portrait captures our attention as honest, genuine, striking, meaningful, and memorable. A great portrait can stand on its own, demonstrating a remarkable level of intimacy, psychological perception, sensitivity, and creativity. All techniques of photography are welcome, and all interpretations of what defines a ’portrait’ are invited, as well.
Submission requirements:
For best results, upload the highest-quality JPEGs or pngs, sized a minimum of 1200 pixels on the longest side but up to 2000 pixels is even better and less than 10MB in size each. The file name should be under 50 characters.
You can submit as many times as you like.
There are no time-based restrictions concerning when a photo was taken.
All entries will be reviewed and pre-screened by the editors and an international group of industry professionals. The screened entries are then reviewed by their international jury. The jury will choose the winners.
All winning photographers for this award will be exhibited in April 2020 at Caelum Gallery in Chelsea, New York City’s vibrant art and gallery district. Selected works will be screened at photo festivals and events worldwide.
