LightUp Festival 2017

LightUp Festival 2017 now is over!
The LightUP Video Mapping Festival organized by the Palas Iasi, has been recently opened for entries for 2017 calling all audio-visual or multimedia artwork producers to register for the 2nd editon of its video mapping competition.
About Competition
By means of this event, Palas continues its series of projects that offer the local community access to an innovative side of the arts and get it engaged in the efforts to promote and support local talents in various fields.
Palas Park is the venue where the LightUp Festival will take place on the 28th of October 2017, and the projections will be themed “Paint with light”
The building used as a canvas is The Palace of Culture, an edifice built between 1906 and 1925, combining elements of the Neo-gothic, Romantic and Neo-baroque styles. The artists’ creations will be projected on its southern façade.
Participants are invited to submit 3 static snapshots and a 30 seconds animation demo which are representative for the work, along with a brief description of the proposed concept and the Work scenario.

The entered projects will be subjected to a preliminary selection on the basis of a scoring system that will evaluate:
• content;
• creativity;
• technique;
• message;
• visual impact;
• inclusion of architectural items in the video product.
Six finalists will be announced on 1st September 2017. Their completed video creations will be projected within the LightUp Festival Palas Iasi on the 28th of October 2016, and the winners will be designated by the public using an SMS based voting system.
There is no entry fee for this competition!
Eligibility
Audio-visual / multimedia artwork producers may participate into this competition, irrespective of the nationality. Minors under 18 years of age must receive the written consent of the legal guardian in order to participate.
