Ludicious – Zürich Game Festival 2018 now is over!
The Ludicious – Zürich Game Festival is calling for entries in its international competition for 2018 searching for innovative games that explore novel ideas, invites all game makers around the world to participate.
About Competition
Ludicious explicitly encourage developers to submit their game even if it’s not released yet, as well as resubmissions of games that weren’t nominated last year but have since been improved.
There is a two categories:
1)International Competition - They want innovative games that explore novel ideas and convince in their execution. The innovation can be present in any aspect, be it design, narrative, business model, and more.
It is explicitly aimed at small studios and developers working with equally small budgets. New ideas and approaches in game design, visual style or storytelling are among the criteria.
Submission requirements(International Competition):
• A playable, feature - complete digital game that requires a computer, smartphone, tablet, console or handheld device to run.
• The game must either be as - of - yet unreleased, or if the game has been released it must have been after October 1st 2017 o a release includes availability on any major monetized distribution platform o they do not consider "Steam Early Access", Alpha or Beta testing, or similar, to constitute a release.
▪ It is therefore possible to submit a game multiple times before release to subsequent Ludicious competitions.
▪ This does not negate the previous requirement that the game must be feature complete
• If a game requires any custom/specific hardware to run or function that is not available to the organizers, the hardware needed will have to be provided by the submitting party at their expense
• The game is a creation of its own and does not plagiarize or clone existing games
• The submitting party either: o Owns all content and copyrighted materials being submitted o Or, has legal permissions to use content by third parties and third
- party technologies, as well as software, including the necessary rights for showing and publishing the game
2)Student Competition - the award will be handed out to a game that demonstrates a level of creativity and quality that is exceptional among its peers. In order to be eligible, the majority of the production team must have been enrolled at school or university in this year’s (2017) spring semester.
Submission requirements(Student Competition):
• The game has to be created by students and not professionals.
- 50% or more of the production team must have been enrolled in school or university during the spring semester of 2017.
• A playable, feature - complete digital game that requires a computer, smartphone, tablet, console or handheld device to run.
• The game must either be as - of - yet unreleased, or if the game has been released it must have been after October 1st 2017.A release includes availability on any major monetized distribution platform - they do not consider "Steam Early Access", Alpha or Beta testing, or similar, to constitute a release.
• It is therefore possible to submit a game multiple times before release to subsequent Ludicious competitions. This does not negate the previous requirement that the game must be feature complete.

A game can only be submitted to either the International Competition or the Student Competition, but not to both of them. Previously nominated games from the Student Competition are also able to step up to the International Competition!
The winners in all categories will be picked at the next edition of Ludicious from 18th to 21st January, 2018 at the Zeughaushof in Zürich, Switzerland.

The Innovation Award — for international developers, and the Emerging Talent Award — for international students, will each be awarded by a high-profile jury seeking out highly creative and original games.
There is no entry fee for this competition!
