Luz y Vanguardias International Video Mapping Contest 2019 now is over!
The Luz y Vanguardias festival of light at Salamanca is accepting registrations for its international video mapping competition for 2019, open to creators and companies devoted to audiovisual arts and videomapping.
About Competition
The city Salamanca once again this year hosts its festival of light and Avant-garde Arts, an annual event that transforms the city into the national center of reference for a recently introduced art form that combines the worlds of plastic art, video creation and installation.
Luz y Vanguardias is a festive and cultural event that fills Salamanca with art and light. Visitors and locals can have a walk around the city and discover the latest artistic trends while enjoying Salamanca’s rich history and World Heritage. The projections on monuments are displayed for several hours each night of the festival.
This festival has requested to link the rich historical, cultural and architectural past of the city with demonstrations of artistic and technical nature based on light and directly linked to the contemporaneity and the XXI century.
The streets of Salamanca and their unique buildings become the festival’s stage where a selection of international artists, university students and companies in the fields of video creation and installation, project their creations, especially designed to relate with the architectural features of the selected buildings.
The 4th edition will take place from June 13th to June 16th 2019.
Submission requirements:
• The participants will have to elaborate a free subject video mapping work of approximately 1 minute and half (90 seconds).
• Projects that may be offensive for any reason or that may seem violent, will not be accepted.
• Participants will send directly through an email their final work in low resolution together with a descriptive title and text before May 13th of 2019 to the email of the organization.
Among all the pieces, the organizing team of the Festival will select the finalists pieces that will be offered to the audience during the event before Monday, 27thof May 2019. Selected authors will have to send their finished work in high resolution before June, 3rd.
A jury of experts awards the prize to the best creation. Presented pieces to the contest will be projected on the baroque façade of the Town Hall of Salamanca located in the Plaza Mayor of the city, during the celebration of the IV edition of the Festival on June, from the 13th to the 16th of 2019.
In order to discover and promote the young talent from the city’s two universities (USAL and UPSAL), there is a section focused on the university students of Salamanca. Their selected works are projected onto the facade of the Casa de las Conchas.
The jury will be formed by a minimum of six experts of recognized professional and artistic standing, and their decision will be based on different criteria as quality, originality and adaptation of the project to the architectural space for what it is conceived. The decision will be announced on 14th June 2019. During the indicated period, the audience will be able to vote their favorite projected video through the website www.luzyvanguardias.com. The voting system will remain active from 13th June 2019, from the inauguration of the festival, until 17th June, 2019 at 01:00 a.m.
There is no entry fee to participate!
Eligibility
The contest calls artists, professionalsor amateurs, from any nationality and based in any country dedicated to the production and audiovisual creation of videomapping. Artists can participate individually, in groups or from an audiovisual company.
