Michelin Challenge Design 2020: Upcycle

Michelin Challenge Design 2020: Upcycle now is over!
Michelin North America is proud to announce the 2020 edition of its annual Michelin Challenge Design competition themed ’Upcycle’ to celebrate, promote, publicize and give visibility to original creative thinking and innovation in mobility design.
About Competition
Michelin Challenge Design will celebrate its 20th global design competition by linking its past to the future of sustainable mobility with its 2020 theme ’Upcycle’.
The aim of this competition is to celebrate, promote, publicize and give visibility to original creative thinking and innovation in mobility design.
By embracing and supporting design, Michelin aims to establish a closer relationship with the design community, combining technical innovation with transportation design to create vehicles or systems that consumers want to use, buy and enjoy.
Michelin challenges the international design and mobility community, individuals, teams, small and large companies and universities to enthusiastically create innovative and aesthetically pleasing design solutions that will meet the theme requirements of the Michelin Challenge Design.
Your design story should visually communicate how your second-life use will provide a greater value than the original design.
Your entry should answer these questions:
1) Who is your intended user?
2) What is the challenge that your repurposed design addresses?
3) Why did you choose your donor entry or entries?
4) How does your Upcycle design create enhanced societal, environmental, or economic value?
Michelin Challenge Design will open for pre-registrations on August 30, 2019. The entry portal for submissions will open January 1, 2020 and close on March 1, 2020.
The Michelin Challenge Design Jury will be evaluating entries based on the following:
• Relevance to the theme;
• Concept originality;
• Design value and quality;
• Developmental potential;
• Design displayability.
Three winners will be honored at a private reception during the Movin’On Summit, June 3-5, 2020, in Montreal, where their winning entries will be displayed, and design portfolios reviewed by Challenge Design jurors and top designers.
