MICROHOME 2019 now is over!

About Competition
The MICROHOME 2019 is an international Architecture Competition recently opened for entries seeking designs for a micro home - an off-grid modular structure that would accommodate a hypothetical young professional couple.
This first annual MICROHOME architecture competition hopes to highlight the fact that bigger isn’t always better. With great design and innovative thinking, small-scale architecture could change how this and the next generation view residential property.
As buildings and cities continue to grow, the strain on the environment and the negative impact on communities is increasing. As the first in a new architecture competition series appreciating small-scale architecture, MICROHOME 2019 is calling for submissions for a new concept in housing, one that’s just 25 square metres in size. Guidelines:
Participants are invited to submit their designs for a micro home - an off-grid modular structure that would accommodate a hypothetical young professional couple (which will be used as an example family size throughout the competition series). The only requirement is that the structure’s total floor area does not exceed 25sqm, beyond that participants are encouraged to be as creative as possible.
Participants are encouraged to rethink spatial organisation and incorporate unique aesthetics, new technologies and innovative materials that will make the micro home an entirely new form of architecture.
As there is no specified competition site, project designs can be set within any hypothetical site of any size, in either a city or countryside location anywhere in the world.
Submission requirements:
• Participants are required to upload 4 x A2 landscape-orientated presentation boards (must not exceed 5mb per jpg) with sketches, renderings, plans, sections, elevations, diagrams, and/or other presentation tools to explain their proposal.
• No video files are accepted.
• All information provided in writing must be in English.
• All submissions must be uploaded via the beebreeders.com upload panel.
Registration period close on 25 October, 2019, but you can submit your project until 22 November, 2019, (11:59pm GMT+0).
The jury will favor sustainable designs and those projects that look to solve economic, social, and cultural problems through the establishment of new architectural methods.
Consultative jury will select 40 shortlisted from all submitted entries, after that core jury panel will evaluate the 9 finalists and select the top 3 winning projects and 6 honorable mentions.
