The National Geographic Travel Photo Contest is now open for entries accepting submissions for 2019, giving the chance to particicipate and to harness the power of photography and share your stunning travel experiences from around the globe.

About Competition


The National Geographic Travel Photo Contest 2019 now is opened for entries giving you a chance to harness the power of photography and share your stunning travel experiences from around the globe. Enter your most powerful photos for a chance to win the 2019 National Geographic Travel Photo Contest.

Organiser are looking for images that show the world: its people, places, and cultures. Photos that tell the story of a place and travel moments that reveal what inspires you.

You can submit in any of the following categories:

• Nature
• Cities
• People

Submission requirements:

There is no limit on the number of entries per person. Photographs must be in digital format, but the photograph need not be taken necessarily with a digital camera. Scans of negatives, transparencies or photographic prints are acceptable.

All digital files must be 20 megabytes or smaller, must be in JPEG or .jpg format, and must be at least 1,600 pixels wide (if a horizontal image) or 1,600 pixels tall (if a vertical image).

Photographs must have been taken within two years before the date of entry and may not previously have won an award in any National Geographic photo contests.

Only minor burning, dodging and/or colour correction is acceptable, as is cropping. High dynamic range images (HDR) and stitched panoramas are not acceptable.

Caption information must be factual and accurate, and must provide description - detail in-full, the scene and elements pictured; detail how the image was created; exact location; identify known animals or people pictured.
Requests for a final judging:

If an entry is selected for final judging, entrants must be prepared to provide the following:

• RAW files (eg. CR2, .NEF, .ORG, .PEF etc.), original untouched JPEGs, will be required for authentication.
• If a RAW file was not created, the entrant will be required to provide a minimum of 5 images taken consecutively before and after the submitted file.

ICC profile must be embedded. AdobeRGB, sRGB or grayscale Gamma 2.2 are recommended. No CMYK.

Judging consists of two rounds of evaluation. In round one, a panel of judges will select three finalists for each category from among all eligible Submissions based on the following criteria:

• Creativity 35%;
• Photographic quality 35%
• Composition 30%.

In round two, the Judges will collectively select a winner. Winners will be chosen early to mid-June and will be notified by e-mail.

The grand prize winner will receive cash prize and be named the 2019 National Geographic Travel Photo Contest.

The entry fee is US$10 per entry if you enter by March 24, 2019. But the cost of fee vary depends of the date of your entry.



Eligibility

Open only to individuals who have reached the age of majority in their jurisdiction of residence at the time of entry and who reside in the United States, including all its territories and the District of Columbia, Australia, Austria, Bangladesh, Brazil, Canada (excluding Quebec), Chile, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, Denmark, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Peru, Poland, Romania, Russia, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan and the United Kingdom.
