About Competition
The PDP Creative Media Conference 2019 now is opened for entries! The 11th international PDP Conference proudly invites you to take part in this year’s poster design and photography exhibitions.
PDP (Print, Design, Photography) Creative Media Conference is one of the last remaining and long standing design and mixed media conferences in Serbia. It was created in order to provide students with an additional layer of education through lectures and workshops. From the very beginning, the conference gave young students and unaffirmed authors the chance to display their work and in doing so present themselves to a wider audience.
The topic of this year is “Absorption“. Organiser wants to highlight the fact that everything we perceive, observe, hear, consume, everything to which we are exposed influences not just our lives but our work as well. Everything that comes from the outside world has an impact on the way we create. These outside influences play an integral part in shaping our lives, and they affect our personal narratives. They force us to react. By interacting with the outside world, we jump-start many unconscious processes. We analyze and inspire ourselves — both directly and indirectly — and enter a state which eventually leads us to something new: our new selves, new skills and a better understanding of a particular topic.
The topic of “Absorption” doesn’t impose any preconceived answer on how an individual should consume content. Instead, it offers a series of questions that will help us better understand the creative process, and how the things we perceive end up defining who we are.
This year’s participants will showcase both their work as well as all the many influences that affected their artistic journeys. Organiser will also tackle the topic of content consumption and its effect on society as a whole.
Everything that happens to you is immediately linked to something that came before it. You always insert new experiences into your own personal matrix. You weigh, compare, and contrast things to your own expectations and assumptions. We all experience things differently, which makes us unique and authentic. Everything you perceive, observe, hear, consume, everything you’re exposed to and everything you go through as an individual always affects your work. Everything that comes from an outside source has an impact on your creative process. It causes your reaction and eventually becomes a part of your own personal narrative. It is a conscious process, at once both active and inactive. It represents the starting point of creative thought, empathy, and understanding. By interacting with the outside world, we jumpstart many unconscious processes. We analyze and inspire ourselves — both directly and indirectly — and enter a state which eventually leads us to something new: our new selves, new skills and a better understanding of a particular topic. Absorption, in this context, means being present and aware of the many processes you find yourself in — some of which you help create. Categories are:
