About Competition
Polestar recently has launched a new and unique design contest geared to inspire and promote automotive creativity.
The brif is ’Pure’. Organizer is tasking designer to design a new type of vehicle that stretches the boundaries of imagination without entering the realms of fantasy, a new Polestar that is the purest of designs, one from twenty years from now, which showcases what Polestar’s slightly-more-distant future will look like (but still within the realm of possibility). It could be a car. It could be something else. What it has to be is a vision of Polestar’s design evolution in the year 2040, following the Polestar design philosophy and need to express an exciting vision of the future that helps accelerate the uncompromising shift to sustainability.
Submission requirements:
➜ Contestants will submit 2 separate images of their design from different angles, to best show the design in its entirety.
➜ Images need to be saved in .jpg or .png format, 1920x1080px.
➜ Contestants selected for shortlisting will need to submit a digital model of their design. Finalists will be notified on Monday, September 7th. They’ll then have until September 26th to develop the quality of their design model with support from Polestar.
Submissions will be judged by a panel comprised of the Polestar Design team.
Each submission will be judged based on the following criteria:
➜ How successfully the design meets the design brief.
➜ How well it shows an exciting future direction for Polestar
➜ The technical quality of the design itself.
Event and the gallery exhibition of the winning submissions and models from the year’s design contest will be held on Thursday, November 12th.
There is no entry fee to participate!
Eligibility
The contest is open to all professional and student designers over the age of 18.
Prize
5 professional and 5 student designers, chosen from the shortlisted group, will receive digital modelling support from Polestar Design and/or its affiliates, have their designs displayed during the Polestar Design Exhibition, and have them posted and shared via Polestars digital channels.
1 professional and 1 student designer will have their designs produced as a 1/5 scale hard model by Polestar. These hard models will be the centerpieces for the Polestar Design Exhibition, which the winners will attend as guests of honor, with accommodations and transportation costs taken care of.
Furthermore, 10 professional and 10 student designers will receive individual feedback from Polestar Design, followed by a one-on-one coaching session with Polestar designer (and Polestar Design Community founder) Juan Pablo Bernal.
