The Portrait of Humanity is an photography award and a new global initiative by 1854 Media, publisher of British Journal of Photography, in partnership with Magnum Photos, that serves as a timely reminder, that despite our many differences, we are able to unite as a global community through the power of photography.

Portrait of Humanity’s ultimate goal is to bring its unifying message to as many people, in as many locations, and through as many channels and touchpoints, as possible. This is a unique opportunity to get your images in front of a jury of curators, editors, and festival directors, who may be looking for new artists and work to show, represent or propose projects to. Open your work up to a fresh pair of eyes.

This Award is focused on capturing the many faces of humanity. Inspired by individuality, community and unity, it is a unique opportunity for photographers and individuals to celebrate our existence through the power of photography.
This is a new initiative, aiming to create one of the most far-reaching collaborative photography exhibitions in history. At its core, Portrait of Humanity will be a celebration of our shared values: Individuality, Community and Unity.

Organizer invites photographers of any level, to show them the world through their eyes, to capture the many faces of humanity, and to document the universal expressions of life; laughter, courage, moments of reflection, journeys to work, first hellos, last goodbyes, and everything in between. What’s normal to you might be extraordinary to someone else.

This competition is open to all interpretations of portraiture; self-portraits, group pictures, street photography.

Entries will be judged by a panel who reflect the diversity of our global society.
