About Competition
Rethinking Hospitality - Common Spaces for Uncommon Times, organized by Good Goes Viral, recently opened for entries is a call for submission open to all young architects, urbanists and designers.
The global pandemic has put us all in difficult situations. Wherever we are, in the last weeks we have faced challenges that we had not expected. The new virus is not only a threat to our health, but it is also deeply impacting the way we work, learn and go about our lives.
Some sectors, along with millions of customers and hundreds of thousands of their employees, have been impacted more than others. Hotels, restaurants and cafés are among them. Some of them could temporarily switch to different models of service, others had to shut down their doors awaiting to weather the storm. Nonetheless, all hospitality businesses are in need to rethink and redesign the use and organization of spaces to adapt, grow and keep delivering the services that we love.
Organizer invite you to come up with concepts for the adaptation of space use and organization in different hospitality settings, including hotels, restaurants, bars and cafés. Your ideas should help these services to solve challenges posed by the immediate negative effects of COVID-19 or propose solutions that will help the sector to transition towards the ’new normal’.
The submission can be a broad conceptual proposal or a specific design / product. It is, however, important that it can be applied in existing venues.
Submission requirements:
➜ 1 x A2 board (pdf, 150 dpi)
➜ 1 x plain text file with project’s description (pdf, up to 300 words)
➜ One team can submit multiple entries
➜ The concept has to represent an original work
NOTE!Registration period ends on June 20th, but you can submit your proposal until July 4th, 2020.
The panel of Judges will evaluate all submissions according to their novelty and originality, as well as four additional criteria:
● Effectiveness: the concept has a high potential to solve challenges faced by hospitality
● Universality: the concept can be applied in different typologies of hotels or restaurants
● Positive impact: the concept is mindful of all implications of the proposal, including business, societal and environmental outcomes
● Implementability: the concept can be easily incorporated in the existing settings; it is inclusive and adaptable
Winners will be announced on August 1st, 2020.
