About Competition
The Mills Fabrica and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University are proud to present the second “Techstyle For Social Good” competition (TFSG), calling out to all techstyle innovators.
Do you have a techstyle (technology + lifestyle) innovation that can create positive societal impact? Does it incorporate apparel/textiles or food tech? If the answer is yes, don’t miss a chance and enter the “Techstyle For Social Good” competition now!
Organizer is on the lookout for techstyle (technology + lifestyle) innovations with a special focus on apparel/textiles or food tech that are making a positive impact on society + creating solutions for the greater good.
Defining Apparel/textiles and food tech innovations:
Apparel/textiles
1) New materials and supply chain innovations
2) Wearables, products merging technology and design, lifestyle brands
3) New retail experiences and platforms
Food tech (including but not limited to)
1) Supply chain incl. agritech, transparency, logistics, distribution and packaging
2) Alternative foods/new food brands
3) New food retail incl. food apps, innovative kitchen and retail solutions
The competition aims to:
➜ Raise awareness and spark ideas for better techstyle designs
➜ Create a platform for exchange and collaboration to support techstyle innovations
➜ Inspire sustainability and social impact in the creative industry and process
➜ Nurture outstanding talents and innovation through incubation
➜ Further students’ dreams by providing opportunities for future development and prototyping
Submission Requirements:
Mini-portfolio which consist of:
1) 250-word summary (in MS Word format):
➜ Design rationale
➜ Design description
➜ Beneficiaries
2) A presentation deck (max. 15 slides in PDF format):
➜ Visual evidence (i.e. photos, drawings, videos with embedded link, simulated models, and any other visual media), for artificial submission, drawings of front, back and side views of designs should be included.
➜ Description of material information
➜ Description of potential commercialization or adoption
➜ Details of the social impact
3) 1-2 minutes video (with downloadable link in MP4 format):
➜ Prototype / simulated model / rendering of design
➜ Contestants must present the prototype or design themselves
Submited file need to be max 20MB.
All entries must be in English.
Submissions will be judged by a panel of distinguished industry experts and world-renowned design academia.

The Winners will be announced on 31st August 2020.
There is no entry fee to participate!
Eligibility
This competition is calling all techstyle innovators. Individual entries and group entries with max. 6 members are welcome. At least one member must be an active full-time student or graduated within the past two years - of any level, discipline and field. At least one team member must be available to participate in the final competition.
Prize
Winners will recive the cash prizes, enrolment onto organizers incubation programme, residency at The Mills Fabrica, mentorship sessions, hot desk + Fabrica Lab membership and access to Fabrica’s community of startups, partners and industry events.
Entry fees
There is no entry fee to participate!
