The Batsford, leading art publisher is pleasant to announced 6th edition of annual art competition for students The Batsford Prize 2018, open worldwide to undergraduate and postgraduate students of fine and applied art, fashion and illustration.
About Competition
An annual art competition for students organised by leading art publisher Batsford and titled The Batsford Prize 2018 is now open in its 6th edition inviting all undergraduate and postgraduate students of fine and applied art, fashion and illustration worldwide.
The theme of The Batsford Prize 2018 is "Craving Colour". Entries should show innovative and well-crafted interpretations of colour, in terms of subject or materials used, or a combination of the two.
There are five categories to enter (open to undergraduate and postgraduate students studying at a UK institution):
• Applied Arts
• Fine Art
• Fashion
• Illustration
• Children’s Illustration
New for this year is the introduction of The Batsford Prize International, a separate illustration category open to students studying at institutions outside of the UK.
Entries should be comprised of up to 5 digital images of the work, OR a digital version of a picture book/graphic novel, OR a video (plus stills). Plus a supporting statement of up to 500 words (to be included on the entry form).
The submitted work should be original. Both works created as a part of the students’ coursework and personal works are accepted for entry. Professional works created for clients or due to be published in a professional context will not be accepted.
There’s a limit of 1 entry per person.
The last day for entries is 28 March 2018, the shortlisted candidates will be announced in April and the winners will be revealed at an awards event in London in May 2018.
There’s no entry fee for this competition.
Eligibility
Undergraduate, postgraduate or foundation students studying at any university or college in the United Kingdom are eligible to enter the Batsford Prize UK.>br>>br> Undergraduate, postgraduate or foundation students studying at any university or college outside of the United Kingdom are eligible to enter the Batsford Prize International.>br>>br> Entrants must be aged 18 or over on the closing date 28th March 2018.
