Cheltenham Illustration Awards 2017 now is over!
Illustration competition titled Cheltenham Illustration Awards has been recently opened for entries for 2017 with the theme of this year ’Tales Through Others’ Eyes’, inviting all students, emerging and established illustrators worldwide to submit they best works.
About Competition
Cheltenham Illustration Awards, an illustration competition organised by the University of Gloucestershire(UK), has been recently opened for entries for 2017.
The focus of this competition has always been one of narrative. Visual storytelling, whether sequential or single image, gives scope to the imagination and opens up possibilities beyond the present moment.
The theme of this year is "Tales Through Others’ Eyes".
"A single experience can lead to many different responses - no two people see the world alike. It’s an easy thing to draw from life when informed by our own experience but to see through the eyes of others requires that we set out on a journey of imagination and empathy; to see clearly we might have to forget our own prejudices and preconceptions. There are a million lives beyond our own – choose to inhabit the world of another and, seeing through their eyes, make an image that explores their distinctive, or unique, vision."
Image size (portrait or landscape) need to be max 50x40cm and 300dpi. Image format need to be high quality JPEG.
By submitting work you are confirming that your entry is your own recent work and you are the present copyright owner.
There are two titled loose sections:
- Student - open to all full time students over 18 years of age worldwide.
- Emerging and Established - open to any newly practising illustrators who are wishing to gain exposure of their work and to those who are more established and are apart of the illustration world.
The selected work will be showcased at the Wilson Cheltenham Art Gallery & Museum and other venues, and published in the 2017 Cheltenham Illustration Awards Annual, which will be distributed to educators and publishers, internationally.
The Awards will also be inviting work from established artists and illustrators whose work we admire and that contributes to the theme.
A public exhibition will be held in Autumn/Winter of 2017 on behalf of the University of Gloucestershire.
There is no entry fee for this competition.
