Weltformat Newcomer Award 2019, graphic design competition has been recently announced for entries and like every year looking for the most exciting newcomer poster designers, inviting everyone younger than 27, whether student, intern or at the start of their career to partecipate with they best work.
About Competition
Weltformat Graphic Design Festival,in Lucerne (Switzerland) recently has been announced for entries and again looking for the most exciting newcomer poster designers!
This year’s theme of Weltformat Graphic Design Festival is ’Tools and Rules’. Organiser are interested in the ways in which the work of designers and their visual solutions are influenced by tools and instruments as well as certain rules and guidelines.
Guidelines:
Rules and regulations may limit creativity – on the other hand, they can be liberating, especially in times of seemingly endless possibilities. The question is, whether exciting results emerge when graphic designers disregard rules or rather when they consciously allow restrictions. Are design rules crucial and important or just an unnecessary dictation and the only rule to follow should be: no rules? Show which formal and content-related rules you personally act on – and which ones you think should definitely be broken.
Submission requirements:
• Upload your poster as a JPG file (150 dpi, DIN A3 (297x420mm), max. 3 MB). Upload tool will be available from 20 June 2019.
• A maximum of 3 entries per person is permitted.
• Already published works and plagiarisms are excluded from participation.
After the closing date, a jury consisting of poster designers and a representative of APG|SGA will select 20 posters from all entries that will be printed in F4 format (895x1280 mm) and shown during Weltformat Graphic Design Festival in Lucerne from Sep-tember 28th to October 7th, 2019. The winner will be announced at the award ceremony taking place during the festival opening on September 28th at Neubad, Lucerne. After the exhibition, the winning poster will be shown at 500 locations throughout Switzerland and awarded CHF 1500.
