JAGDA International Student Poster Award 2020: The JAGDA International Student Poster Award 2020, poster competition for students of high school age and above, organized by Japan Graphic Designers Association (JAGDA) has been recently launched to discover and honor next-generation talents, aims to develop and expand graphic design.

About Competition



Japan Graphic Designers Association (JAGDA) once again is hosting its International Student Poster Award competition for 2020 and invites participation by students worldwide.

The JAGDA International Student Poster Award launched to discover and honor next-generation talents, aims to develop and expand graphic design. Poster designs that combine images and texts as free expression have the force to move people’s hearts, enabling visual communication across countries and regions. Our hope is to understand each other and share international issues through posters. The theme for 2020 year competition is “Money”.

Submission requirements:

➜ You need to send B1 size posters (width 728mm, height 1,030mm) produced between July 2019 and July 2020, portrait orientation only. Works need to express a theme and must include the lettered characters of the theme. There is no limit to the number of entries, but in the case of a series of works, each work should consist of no more than three pieces. In addition to independent works, classroom assignments, graduation projects, and works submitted for other awards are also accepted.

The winning works will be announced on 7 October 2020.

The Grand Prix and Gold recipients will be invited to the awards ceremony on 28 November 2020 and their prize winning works will be published in the annual book “Graphic Design in Japan 2021”. All selected works will be exhibited at the National Art Center, Tokyo from 25 November – 6 December 2020 and will be published in a catalogue.

Entry Fees:

The application fee is 1,000 Yen per piece.





Eligibility

This competition is dedicated to students of high school age and above. Current students as of 1 January 2020, enrolled in high school, technical college, specialized training college, university or graduate school, are eligible to enter. All nationalities and all ages are welcome to apply individually.



Prize

Approximately 200 works will be selected and the following prizes will be awarded: Grand Prix (1), Gold (2), Silver (5), Bronze (10) and Jury Prize (7). The winning works will be published in the annual book “Graphic Design in Japan 2021 and exhibited at the National Art Center, Tokyo from 25 November – 6 December 2020.
