Kokuyo Design Award 2017: KOKUYO is holding the new design competition for 2017 titled Kokuyo Design Award with this year theme ’New Story’ looking for any and all ideas to turn into actual products.

About Competition


The Kokuyo Design Award is a competition to attract beautifully functional product designs, taking the best of the best to the actual consumer market, enhancing design as a value and supports the production of items loved by the user.

Encountering something new leads to new conversations, spreading new ideas, and bringing new people together. It’s the start of a new life. It’s something that opens new doors and goes on to establish new genres. What kind of design would pave the way to such a new experience?

Theme for the 2017 edition is "New Story". Presentation Sheet:

• (A3, Portrait OrientationWidth: 297mm × Height: 420mm, up to 5MB limit to one A3 size page. Additional pages will not be accepted.
• Add any information you feel helps explain your design.
• Entries must be in Japanese or English.
• Format - JPEG or PDF
• Size - JPEG / Width: 3508pixels × Height: 4961pixels
• Resolution - 300dpi Color Mode: RGB

Entry eligibility is limited to those designs never before shown publicly (in Japan and other countries). Multiple submissions are allowed.

Submissions must be the original work of the entrant. Submissions cannot have been made public (in Japan or overseas) before or concurrent to this contest. Submitted works cannot have been entered into other competitions. Submissions may not be displayed publicly without the agreement of the contest organizer. For entries passing the initial judging round. We will contact those who have passed the initial judging phase with further details by between early and Mid November 2017.
Entrants passing initial judging will be asked to refine their presentation sheet.
Models may be of actual size (smaller items) or built to scale (furniture, etc.).
Entrants are responsible for making their own models.
The organizer will offer up to ¥30,000 (tax included) to help defray the cost of model building for all entrants.
Submitted models will not be returned.

There is no entry fee for this competition.



Eligibility

Corporations, organizations, individuals, and group are all welcome, regardless of age, sex, professional background, or nationality.

Entry eligibility is limited to those designs never before shown publicly (in Japan, other countries).
