The 2018 Luz y Vanguardias festival at Salamanca has announced the 2nd edition of its international video mapping festival that will take place from the 14th to the 17th of June 2018.
The festival has requested to link the rich historical, cultural and architectural past of the city with demonstrations of artistic and technical nature based on light and directly linked to the contemporaneity and the XXI century.
Luz y Vanguardias is a festive and cultural event that fills Salamanca with art and light. Visitors and locals can have a walk around the city and discover the latest artistic trends while enjoying Salamanca’s rich history and World Heritage. The projections on monuments are displayed for several hours each night of the festival.
Participants in the competition must create a work adapted to the architecture of a historic building in Salamanca, this time the City Hall, on which the works in competition will be projected.
Luz y Vanguardias is divided into four sections:
• curated artists,
• competition section,
• young talents section,
• parallel program.
In order to discover and promote the young talent from the city’s two universities (USAL and UPSAL), there is a section focused on the university students of Salamanca. Their selected works are projected onto the facade of the Casa de las Conchas.
During those four nights, participants will project their creations on the Salamanca’s Townhall at the Plaza Mayor and will have to “play” with its baroque façade.
Artists and companies willing to participate must contact the festival’s organization, via the official website or by writing an email to firstname.lastname@example.org to obtain the competition rules and technical specifications.
A jury of experts awards the prize to the best creation. The works submitted to competition are projected onto the facade of the City Hall at Plaza Mayor.
There is no entry fees to partecipate!
It's free to enter!
This competition is open to artists and national and foreign companies engaged in the field of production and audio-visual creation, and video mapping.
The winner will be awarded 15,000 Euro while the runner up will receive a special prize of 5,000 Euro — sponsored by the Salamanca’s City Council. Both prizes will be decided by a professional jury formed by relevant professionals in the fields of arts, culture, image and communications.
Additionally, the public will vote, at the festival’s website, for their favourite work that will receive the 3,000 Euro people’s choice award.
