The Bird Photographer of the Year (BPOTY) 2026, phorography competition organized by Bird Photographer of the Year Limited, a company based in England, has been recently opened for entrie inviting everyone worldwide to participate.

The Bird Photographer of the Year 2026, leading bird photography competition organized by Bird Photographer of the Year Limited , a company based in England, has been recently opened for entrie inviting everyone worldwide to participate.
This is an international contest that brings together the world’s best bird photography, offering a platform for photographers to showcase their talents while supporting bird conservation efforts.
You are invited to submit photos of birds taken anywhere in the world.
Are not permitted to be entered into the competition images that feature domesticated animals and were taken before 1st January 2020.
The Competition is comprised of both an the Adult Competition, and the Youth Competition.
Each entry in the Adult Competition may be submitted to one of the following categories:

➜ Birds in the Environment
➜ Bird Behaviour
➜ Birds in Flight
➜ Black and White
➜ Urban Birds
➜ Creative Perspectives
➜ Conservation (single image)
➜ Conservation Award
➜ Portfolio Award
➜ Video Award
➜ Young Bird Photographer of the Year
The judges will choose a shortlist of entries from which they wish to see further high resolution files. These must be supplied by the given deadline, or may be disqualified. The overall winner of the Competition will be chosen by the Judges from the Category Winners.
Submission requirements:
➜ Entries must be submitted in JPEG (or JPG) format.
➜ Entrants that are shortlisted for the final round of judging will be required to provide:
- raw format files (such as .NEF, .CR2 etc) or, if unavailable, original untouched JPEGs for authentication and forensic purposes.
- full, high resolution files of the final image;
- an extended caption description;
Who may enter?
The Adult Competition is open to individuals that are aged 18 years or above on the 14th December 2025. The Youth Competition is open to individuals that are aged 17 years or below on the 14th December 2025.
Prize:
The Grand Prize Winner will receive a cash prize of £3,000. In all 8 main categories, 1st place winner will receive a £500 cash prize.
Entry fees:
To enter the competition, you must pay £35. The Youth contest is free.
