Biophilia Poster Competition: The Biophilia Poster Competition, graphic design competition has been recently opened for entries, celebrating the innate connection between humans and nature, welcomes all points of view on this relationship.

About Competition


The Biophilia Poster Competition is an graphic design competiion recently opened for entries that welcomes all points of view on this relationship and the competition will conclude with a traveling show of the finalists’ work.

Biophilia is an idea that humans have an innate connection to nature. This connection helps our physical and mental wellbeing. Good biophilic design synthesizes the complexities of modern structures and spaces with design elements that support our health, represented through three broad categories:

❶ The direct experience of nature - this refers to first-person human contact with architectural and other environmental features and includes how we feel and see: Light, Air, Water, Fire, Plants, Animals, Weather, Natural landscapes and ecosystems

❷ The indirect experience of nature - this refers to avatars and representations of nature. including: Images of nature, Natural materials, Natural colors, Simulating natural light and air, Naturalistic shapes and forms, Evoking nature, Information richness, Age, change and the patina of time, Natural geometries, Biomimicry

❸ The experience of space and place - this refers to spatial features that evoke the natural environment’s systems and complexities including: Natural geometries such as fractals, Organized complexity, Integration of parts to wholes, Transitional spaces, Mobility and wayfinding, Cultural and ecological attachment to place

Guidelines:

Your design should explore the relationship of nature and the living, built-world through graphic design and celebrate the impact of Biophilia.

Each designer may participate with designs developed since January, 2019 that have not received prior awards.

Submission requirements:

● All entries must be submitted as digital files first.

● All entries need to be created specifically for this competition, Vertical/Portrait only, 24″ x 36″ (60.96cm x 91.44 cm), saved in JPG or PDF, CMYK compatible, 300 DPI print-ready file and have maximum 10MB. The works will be selected by nationally and internationally recognized biophilia and graphic design professionals and all participants selected will be informed by email before May 22, 2020. The final round notification will be sent by June 1, 2020.

The exhibition will include the best 100+ poster designs selected by the jury. The final award winners will be announced during the award ceremony.

There is no entry fee to participate!
