Biomimicry Global Design Challenge 2021

Biomimicry Global Design Challenge 2021 now is over!

Biomimicry Global Design Challenge 2021: Biomimicry Global Design Challenge 2021 hosted by the Biomimicry Institute is an annual sustainability challenge that invites people around the world to address critical sustainability issues using nature as a guide.

Short description

The Biomimicry Institute has now opened registrations for its Biomimicry Global Design Challenge 2021.

Every two years, the Biomimicry Institute organize its sustainability challenge with intent to select a key sustainability issue as a broad theme and focus for the Global Challenge.

Earth has always been a changing planet, but the rapid climate and ecological changes humans have set in motion in the last century are like nothing experienced before. Hungry for energy, food, and other resources, our growing populations are pushing Earth’s systems toward a frightening and well-documented tipping point. We need a new generation of innovators who know how to create human materials, products, and systems that are regenerative and generous to all species. The 2021 Design Brief challenges participants to create a nature-inspired innovation (a product, service, or system) that aligns with one or more of the Sustainable Development Goals, while incorporating all three elements of biomimicry - Emulate, Ethos, and (Re)connect - into their proposed solution.

The 2021 Biomimicry Global Design Challenge aims to introduce biomimicry's design methodology & sustainability mindset to future leaders by providing them with a framework to practice biomimicry and offering a hands-on experience.
