Box to the Future Design Competition: DesignClass invites anyone with creative talent and an eye for detail to participate in its Box to the Future Design Competition challenging partecipans to design experiential future of the subscription box in the beauty & wellness space.

➜ Short description

It seems like a new subscription box launches every week. Whether it’s for a new type of shaving kit or laundry detergent—yes, that really exists—we as consumers can’t get our fill of the convenience and clever marketing. Research has also found that much joy can be created in the ‘unboxing’ experience.

The big challenge here is that subscription boxes risk being wasteful. Our products may still come in plastic and other non-recyclable or non-reusable materials. Single-use items still dominate product design and even packaging. In the biz, they call this Linear Design.

However, it doesn’t have to be this way. Linear Design can become Circular Design. A completely different way of approaching how products are made and their lifecycle.

We now live in a world where brands and consumers want to be more sustainable, now it’s up to designers like you to develop those solutions.

Design the experiential future of the subscription box in the beauty & wellness space. How might an innovative brand, design products and packaging in a forward thinking and sustainable way?

➜ Submission requirements:

To showcase your design of the future subscription box for the beauty and wellness industry, you'll create up to 4 images (3000 x 3000 pixels) of your design, showing any features you wish to highlight, one factory spec, and a written description, fewer than 500 words, in English, to explain your reasoning and process.

➜ Evaluation Criteria:

Your submission will be rated on design, innovation, sustainability, materials/manufacturability and cost.

Winners will be announced on March 11, 2021.

Anyone with creative talent and an eye for detail can partecipate in this competition.

➜ Prize:

The Grand Prize is US $ 1,000 + 6 Mentoring hours with MaCher designers to help you develop your idea further and create a professional factory spec drawing.

All approved submissions will be opened to public voting on articles.godesignclass.com until March 8, 2021. The submission with the most verified votes will be deemed the Designer's Choice Award winner.
