Ceramics of Italy 2021 Tile Competition: Ceramics of Italy 2021 Tile Competition now is accepting entries from all North American architects, interior designers and students, with the aim to recognize the work of top North American architects and designers who feature Italian ceramic tiles in their institutional, residential or commercial spaces.

Short description

Now in its 28th year, the Ceramics of Italy 2021 Tile Competition recognizes the exceptional work of North American architects and designers who feature Italian ceramic tiles in their institutional, residential or commercial spaces.

Domestic and international new construction and renovation projects completed between January 2016 and March 2021 are eligible for entry in the residential, commercial and institutional categories.

Submission requirements:

As it is a competition celebrating ITALIAN TILE, projects must feature ceramic or porcelain tile from at least one member company of Ceramics of Italy.

You can use mix-medium, but a significant portion of the project should include Italian CERAMIC/PORCELAIN tile.

Multiple submissions are permitted.

Evaluation Criteria:

A panel of design experts will judge the projects based on their creativity, functionality, sustainability and aesthetic appeal. The of cial criterion for the jury includes: overall design of the project, innovative use of tile, tile design, degree that tile enhances the setting and the project’s sustainable attributes.

Winners will be notified in April and officially announced at the Ceramics of Italy International Press Conference at Coverings, North America’s premier tile and stone trade show, taking place in Orlando, FL from July 2021.

Who may enter?

The competition is open to all North American architects, interior designers and students. Students must be enrolled at an accredited university in North America to be eligible.

Prize:

Winners will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to Coverings 2021 in Orlando, FL and the chance to present their projects in front of design media at the show. Built-project winners will also enjoy a 5-day CEU trip to Bologna, Italy for Cersaie 2021 in September.

The People's Choice Award will be given to a project that receives the most votes during a public voting period.
