International competition for legible Prague wayfinding system: ROPID (Regional Organizer of Prague Integrated Transport) and CZECHDESIGN is pleasant to announce a new international designers competition for the city of Prague with aim to select a team of experts who can demonstrate the best ability to create a smart wayfinding system suitable for all citizens and visitors of historical Prague.

Short description

ROPID (Regional Organizer of Prague Integrated Transport) is tendering an international design competition for a new wayfinding system for the Czech capital. This is a leading and most experienced design competitions organizer in the Czech Republic.

The aim of the competition is to select a team of experts who can demonstrate the best ability to create a smart wayfinding system suitable for all citizens and visitors of historical Prague. The challenge is to create an inclusive system - for school children, adults or seniors, for pedestrians and public transport users, for persons with disabilities, for people in a hurry to get to work and those just wandering and enjoying the city.

The project will result in a new wayfinding system of the Czech capital that is already applied in London (Legible London), Vienna or Warsaw.

The format of the competition is international, restricted two-phase design competition. Based on the decision of the international expert jury, the contracting authority selects those who will be invited to submit competition proposals in the 1st phase of the competition. A maximum of 5 participants will be invited to the 1st phase of the Competition, their task will be to prepare a comprehensive assignment to create an overall concept of information and navigation system with a practical representation of typography, color and especially functional principles on various 3D outputs. The jury will evaluate the submitted solutions anonymously, the 3 most successful will be invited by the Contracting Authority to the 2nd phase of the Competition.

The deadline for submitting bids for the 1st phase of the competition is set for 3 November 2021 by 12:00, bids for the 2nd phase of the competition will be submitted by 9 December 2021 12:00.

The results of the competition will be announced in January 2022.

Who may enter?

Any number of participants can enter the competition. Mandatory team members are a graphic designer, an architect or urban planner or a product designer or industrial designer, a UX designer and a project manager.
