Photometria Awards 2024 - “Constructed Realities”: Photometria International Photography Festival is calling for entries to its 2024 Photography Awards on the theme “Constructed Realities” and invites everyone who loves the art of photography to participate.

Photometria International Photography Festival, organized for the 16th continuous year in Greece by the “Entefxis”, is calling for entries to its 2024 Photography Awards on the theme “Constructed Realities”. In a world where perceptions are increasingly mediated and reality itself can seem elusive, we invite photographers to explore the multifaceted nature of constructed realities through their lens.

Photography has always held the power to capture and shape narratives, but in today’s digital age, the lines between reality and fabrication blur more than ever. From carefully curated social media feeds to AI-generated imagery, our understanding of what is real is constantly challenged.

Consider how directed photography can manipulate perceptions, presenting a carefully constructed version of reality. Venture into dreamworlds where reality bends and twists, offering glimpses into alternate dimensions of existence. Reflect on the influence of media propaganda, where images are weaponized to sway opinions and distort truths.

“Constructed Realities” invite photographers to push the boundaries of creativity and imagination, to provoke thought and inspire dialogue. Whether through conceptual compositions or documentary-style narratives, we encourage artists to challenge perceptions and question the constructs that shape our understanding of reality.

Join us in exploring the intricate tapestry of constructed realities, where truth and fiction converge, and where every image holds the potential to reveal, distort, or reimagine the world around us. Let your creativity roam freely as you navigate the realms of perception and illusion. Participants are invited to interpret the theme in only one original picture photo.

The assessing of the photographs will be based on the composition, consistency and their relation to the competition’s theme.

The exhibition “Constructed Realities” of the 25 selected photographs will take place in Ioannina city and also travel to other Greek cities after the end of the festival.

The results of the 25 best photos will be announced within two months from the end of the final submission of entries. The results of the three winners will be announced at the beginning of the festival.

Submission requirements:

➜ The applicants have the right to send only one picture photo, not bigger than 500 KB.
➜ Photos must be original work of the participants .
➜ If your photo is selected to the top 25, you will be asked for your original file in a good resolution for printing.
➜ Photos produced by AI artificial intelligence are not accepted.

Everyone who loves the art of photography can participate in this competition.

Prize:

The best three works will be awarded with prizes provided by the event sponsors. In addition, only one of the top three winners has the opportunity to participate in the next year’s festival with a solo exhibition.
