The Pictoplasma Berlin 2027 Animation Festival now is calling for entries and like very year seeking for any high-grade characters in animation, narration, music visuals, experimental work or motion graphics, from any part of the world.

The Pictoplasma Berlin 2027 Animation Festival has been recently opened for entries, calling for animation submissions for the “Characters In Motion” international screenings.

High-grade Characters in animation, narration, music visuals, experimental work or motion graphics, from any part of the world, are accepted.

All entered animated short films (experimental, narrative, non-narrative, commissioned, or student films) submitted will be considered for the 23rd Pictoplasma festival selection, scheduled to take place in Berlin in May 2027. Pictoplasma is the world’s leading platform for contemporary character design and art. The project pushes forward interdisciplinary discussion, development and promotion of a new breed of visual vocabulary - from illustration to animation, game to interactive design, urban to graphic arts.

Since its inception in 2004, each spring Pictoplasma Festival transforms Berlin into the international meeting point for a diverse scene of artists and creatives, trailblazing the face of tomorrow’s visual culture. The “Characters In Motion” screenings offer an overview of international animations, short films, motion graphics, and experimental work, focusing on stylish and fresh character-driven visuals and narratives.

The Pictoplasma Festival showcases latest trends in character design and art, cutting edge screenings bring the latest animation eye-candy to the big screen, and numerous exhibitions throughout the city invite all to experience original works and outstanding character craftsmanship.

Selected works will become part of the Characters in Motion 2027 screenings and the official Pictoplasma Berlin 2027 festival program.

Submission requirements

➜ All animated short films (experimental, narrative, non-narrative, commissioned, or student films) will be considered for the official 2022 festival selection.

➜ Please send your submissions as Full HD Quicktime (ProRes 422 HQ or H.264 codec).

The Pictoplasma Berlin 2027 Animation Festival accept any high-grade characters in animation, narration, music visuals, experimental work or motion graphics, from any part of the world.
